Check this out. A small column in the New York Times on July 1, 1948, mentions the invention of the transistor, whereas all other media outlets ignored the event completely. The middle of the second column says, “A device called a transistor, which has several applications in the radio where a vaccine tube ordinarily is employed, was demonstrated for the first time yesterday at Bell Telephone Laboratories…where it was invented.” Such invention changed the world ever since!
