Check this out. A small column in the New York Times on July 1 1948 mentions the invention of the transistor, whereas all other media outlets ignored the event completely. In the middle of the second column it says “A device, called a transistor, which has several applications in radio where a vaccine tube ordinarily is employed, was demonstrated for the first time yesterday at Bell Telephone Laboratories…where it was invented.” Such invention changed the world ever since!
