Error Messages

I read this in a 1966 computer humor book that I found funny but true regarding coders handling error messages. “What could be simpler than ‘AN IMPOSSIBLE ERROR HAS OCCURRED ON AN UNSPECIFIED UNIT WHILE EXECUTING AN UNIDENTIFIABLE PROGRAM.’ It should be pointed out that the creative souls who can compose such wonderful phrases are rare beasts, and when found, should be coveted and nurtured.” In other words, the best programmer is the one that is unstoppable and has made everything in the code error-free, handled every exception, and left out only the impossible. Of course, assuming this is not the only error message they placed in the entire code.
